MUSIC - To listen and describe a piece of music using musical vocabulary
Today we began our unit of work on Air.
We practiced making sounds with our voices that tell a story. (There is a video of one class doing this!)
Then, while listening only to a piece of music the children drew pictures, patterns or wrote words down of how the music made them feel and what it made them think of.
Then, we listened to it again but this time we watched the footage that went with it. It was of some hot air balloons. We then discussed if the music represented the footage - the children agreed it did at various different points - e.g. when the balloons were being filled with air and when all the balloons were up and floating and finally, in the dark the flames looked they they were dancing with the music!
Finally, we had a go at writing some symbols to show what the music is doing.
